Today was a slap back to reality after a couple of easy days and a day off. The ride today was 120 miles from Birmingham, AB to Carrolton, GA. I’m back on Eastern Standard Time baby! The terrain was hilly, as we are running into the Appalachian mountains. The long day, coupled with our first real hills in 1000 miles, coupled with the heat and humidity of the Dixie south made for a pretty challenging ride. We passed the time in the usual way, talking about whatever came into our boiled brains. For a while we chatted about what it would be like to be photosynthetic. What would the color red taste like? How many crew stops could we skip because we wouldn’t need to eat Clif Bars? It was a fun day. We even took some time out of our ride to wait at the end of a sketchy tunnel and scare the next pace line as they came through. Brian nearly fell off his bike, and Brent got the whole thing on video.
